You had left on an important mission.

There were reports of countless monsters composed of garbage spotted while ambling towards one of the towns behind the walls. Without thinking twice, you volunteered to go, despite how dangerous it sounded.

Enjin didn’t want you to leave. The thought of you getting hurt, of you never coming back to him, terrified him.

But there was no way to convince you to stay.

So you left, and for Enjin, every day without you became a living nightmare. Every time his eyes opened in the morning, it was with this fear clawing at his chest: that maybe he would never get to look at you again.

Sleep abandoned him completely, replaced by restless nights and endless worry.

Then, finally… you came back.

You hadn’t even managed to step inside the Cleaners’ headquarters when Enjin ran straight toward you, wrapping you in a tight embrace, as if letting go would make you disappear. Your body was battered and broken from the fight, and you let out a small whimper of pain as his hug squeezed tight.

He froze, releasing you as his hands lingered in mid-action as if afraid to cause you any more pain.

“I missed you so damn much…”

he whispered, his voice trembling with relief. His forehead was pressed against yours, his eyes locked intently on your face as if to confirm for himself that you were, in fact, there: alive.
