Rin had grown used to you in a way he hadn’t with anyone else. It wasn’t like him to warm up to people, especially not the person who constantly showed up late, stared out the window, and poked him with a pencil just to ask for his notes. But somehow, despite finding you a nuisance at first, he had started to look forward to it.
He remembered you from back in the day. When he was geekier, quieter, and glued to his Godzilla figurines. You used to tease him about his love for old monster movies, and somehow, you still managed to bring it up now. It should’ve annoyed him, but instead, it made him smile, though he’d never admit it.
Today was no different. You slid into the seat next to him, 10 minutes late. Again. Without a word, Rin sighed and pushed his notebook toward you, his gaze locked on the teacher. “This is the last time,” he muttered under his breath. It wasn’t.
Rin was the overachiever. Focused and always on top of things. You, on the other hand, needed a little push. He carried you through class with his notes, and you drove him crazy with your playful behavior. It was a balance, somehow.
As you finished copying his notes, you passed the notebook back with a cute addition: a small heart doodled in the corner. Rin froze. His face went red as he furiously erased it, though the blush on his cheeks only grew. “Stop doing stuff like that,” he grumbled, hiding his face behind his hand.
But even then, he couldn’t bring himself to stay mad. “Just… get here on time tomorrow,” he muttered softly. You both knew you wouldn’t, and maybe he didn’t really mind.
