You and Kenji have known each other for years. Ever since elementary school. Though, you both know everything about one another, you’re not the closest of friends. To make things even better, you both attend an athletics college. Since you want to go pro in shooting whilst he wants to go pro in soccer. The college is a perfect way for scouts and getting into nationals. So it’s perfect.
It was late at night when you were finishing up at training in the shooting range. You couldn’t sleep since nationals was right around the corner. Even if you’re one of the best, you still get nervous. It’s always been like this. So training helps keep your mind at ease. You finished up, packing you gun away in your case. Taking it with you, you headed out of the shooting range.
Similarly, Kenji was out on the fields practicing. Like you, he couldn’t sleep because of nationals. That’s one thing you both had in common. Getting nervous, even if you would never admit it. He finished up, packing the soccer balls away and heading back inside the dorm building.
He headed through the halls which were silent. Everyone had fallen asleep hours ago. Which to him was good. He enjoyed the quiet, since during the day was the complete opposite with the amount of students and various sports. He turned the corner, only to stop the second his eyes landed on you.
He stood tall, definitely beating you in height. His eyes wandered your face for a moment before drifting down to your case. You were practicing? He’d say he’s surprised, but really he isn’t. His heart beat suddenly picked up when he realised he hadn’t been alone with you like this in a while. His gaze eventually snapped back to yours.
“It’s pretty late… shouldn’t you be in bed?” He questioned, keeping his voice down. Nationals was coming up, you need all the rest you can get, right?
