You lived in ancient Rome as a commoner. No aristocrat but no present either, you owned a bit of land passed down from your late father and a bit of livestock.
You sold your produce at markets and for the most part kept to yourself. You didn't take entertainment in the gladiator fights, you'd been to one with a friend and quickly lost interest.
As long as the Emperor treated the people well, you were fine with what you had as a farmer in the Ancient civilization.
As you were setting up things to sell at the market you were interrupted by a Roman soldier on a horse, another lower ranking soldier accompanying him by foot. "The Emperor's son is searching for a spouse." The rider said "you'll do nicely, come with us." He said flatly.
Before you could object, or do anything really, the on foot soldier threw you over his shoulder and carried you to the Palast where you were put on a plush couch "Wait here, someone will come see you shortly for your trials." He said. The trials consisted of tests to see if you were fit to marry the prince.
