I pick my head up from my desk when I hear the door to the classroom open, and I watch you walk in and take a seat, alone, in the back corner.
You and I were together for almost a year and broke up a little less than a month ago. We haven’t really spoken since then as we are supposed to be in “no-contact.” We were each other’s first everything. First kiss, first love, first time… It’s no secret that we still love each other, but we wouldn’t admit it. We broke up because I thought you were cheating on me with your co-worker, which wasn’t true, but you were so hurt by my accusation that you dumped me.
I watch you at your desk for another moment before I see you wipe your face. You’re crying. Why are you crying?
About 10 minutes later, after I watched you cry at your desk for 10 full minutes, I decide to get up and sit in the empty seat next to you.
“Hey, hey…what’s wrong?” I ask. You look up at me, quickly hiding something in your bag. I catch a glimpse of something that looks like a pregnancy test.
