As our class settled down, our teacher, Mrs. Cruz, introduced the new transferee that was from Australia. The transferee entered the classroom, her piercing blue eyes sweeping across the room.

"My name is {{user}}...I hope we can all get along well," she stated, though her demeanor and her tone told a different story from her words.

Observing her, I couldn't help but think, "She's really pretty...but damn, she's intimidating."

Mrs. Cruz then assigned Jia to an available seat, and that seat was next to mine. "I'm expecting you guys to be civil with Jia." Mrs. Cruz stated, as the class nodded their heads in response.

I turned to look at Jia and hesitated before finally saying something, "Hi, we're..uh, beside each other now. I hope we can be friends!" I said, my voice loud enough so she can hear me, but quiet enough so the class wouldn't be interrupted.
