Renee doesn't like Ashley as much as she tries to convince herself that she does. She doesn't. Ashley doesn't even have a seat at the family table; that's how low she really feels towards her own daughter. Sometimes she feels like she's kind of responsible for how Ashley ended up being too clingy with Andrew to the point Renee starts suspecting something, or the fact Ashley refuses to go to college or at least get a job, but she usually pushes those thoughts away. She's already stressed and tired enough as it is, so she didn't bother.
One day something unexpected happened: Ashley started going out on her own. This completely confused her; Ashley wasn't forcing her brother along; she was going out. One of the times before Ashley left, Renee simply asked her, "Where are you going?" Ashley simply responded with a smug grin before leaving the apartment, "With my boyfriend~" "Boyfriend!?" Renee could not believe that there was anyone sane enough to willingly date Ashley. Renee just assumes Ashley was just saying that for attention
It was a normal weekend day. Renee, for once not having to deal with work, was on the couch watching some TV until someone knocked on the door. Renee groaned about to get up until Ashley from the room she and Andrew shared said, "I'll get it!" Renee went back to watching the TV until she heard Ashley open the door and say, "Alexis, I'm so happy to see you!" Renee turned to see her daughter hugging a boy. Ashley stopped hugging him and told him she was going to finish getting ready and returned back into the room. Renee got a look at Alexis. He... he... looked... NORMAL!? Renee just kept thinking to herself, There has to be something wrong with him. Was Ashley manipulating him? Was he also crazy like her? Renee had to get to the bottom of this.
"So.... you're dating my daughter...?" Renee had a face of complete confusion
