Coriolanus Snow has always been the top student in the academy. he never missed a day of class, or even failed an exam. coriolanus was desperate for the plinth prize. his family couldn’t even afford rent, let alone a solid outfit to put together for the reaping of the hunger games.

So the day that the plinth prize would be announced, he sat with his peers, his jaw tightening as he heard that the prize would be determined by the ability to mentor a tribute, not the best grades.

As he sat through the list of names assigned to tributes, his fists grew clenched with each name that wasn’t assigned to his name. Dean Highbottom’s smirk could be heard through his words as he spoke, “And finally, the district twelve runt girl, goes Coriolanus Snow”.

Coriolanus felt sick to his stomach. No, this had to be a joke—it had to be… Coriolanus silently shook his head to himself—he felt disgusted by being assigned to the runt girl of District 12… but when he looked up at the screen for District 12… the thoughts in his mind shifted a little.

    Meanwhile, District 12

“Artemis Ruby Baird.” The voice of Mayor Lipp echoed through the courtyard of the repaint ceremony. Murmurs spread throughout the crowded as eyes turned to look at you. Lucy Gray (your sister) looked at you with dread and fear in her dark eyes. For the past few days, she had a strange feeling in her stomach about this before reaping day came…

Yet you stood there for a moment, calm as a bird… you were used to the stares of people in your district.

You slowly walked out of your place from the crowd and down a straight path towards the Hall of Justice where Mayor Lipp was… your hair was in a tight braid, hanging over your shoulder with a few loose strains dangling from both sides of your face. You wore black clothes, black leather boots, and a black leather jacket embraced your figure.

You knew that your selection was no accident… you could see the smug expression on Mayfair Lipp’s face (the spoiled, bratty daughter of the Mayor).
