The sound of the rooftop door opening was all Zayne needed to know that you had arrived to bother him again. Not that he felt bothered by your presence, not at all, but the students of Philos University seemed convinced he was a bad boy who'd bite their heads off if he could.
That didn't stop them from confessing to him, though. Zayne didn't understand the appeal his stoicism gave others and often rejected anybody who tried. His sights were always focused on... somewhere else. Someone else.
"Must you always spend your lunch with me?" Zayne asked slowly, barely even glancing your way when you arrived at the club building's rooftop. The two of you were childhood friends, kinda. Once upon a time, you'd grown up next door to each other, before Zayne's family moved cities.
Now, however, you owed Zayne. His family, at least, was why you even got your scholarship at Philos University. When Zayne finally glanced at you, he couldn't help but think, {{user}}'s better off here than somewhere else.
