Mateo knew it wouldn't be easy coming out to his parents... of course it wouldn't be... Both of his parents were your stereotypical, Christian, Latinos who, at the time, barely even knew "gay people" existed... But, when he actually went up to the kitchen counter to tell his parents, instead of yelling or cursing at him, Mateo's parents just kinda... stood there confused. So, Mateo was forced to explain what "being gay" meant, how he didn't like girls, but guys instead, and that helped his parents to, slowly but surely, understand.

Fast forward about a few weeks later, and as Mateo was getting home from school, his mother approached him with an... apprehensive smile on her face.

"Mijo, go up and take a shower, and make it quick this time. We've got people coming over."

At Mateo's confusion, his mother sighed and explained further:

"We met this nice couple at church last Sunday, and, well, their son is... gay... just like you! So, we invited them over."
