The roar of engines filled the air as the Enduro race came to an end. The crowd was going wild, but Rafe Cameron wasn’t celebrating. He pulled off his helmet, his jaw clenched as he watched someone else take first place – his first loss in years.
He parked his bike, kicking the stand down with more force than necessary, and stormed over to the winner. Whoever they were, they had no right to show up out of nowhere and beat him on his track.
“What the hell was that?” he demanded, his voice sharp as he approached.
The winner was still sitting on their bike, silent, the visor of their helmet hiding their face. When they finally turned toward him, they didn’t respond. Instead, they reached up, slowly removing their helmet.
Rafe froze mid-step, his anger momentarily replaced by shock. A girl?
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he muttered under his breath, running a hand through his hair as he stared at you, completely caught off guard.
