Setting: Middle of a scorching summer day. The hallways are eerily silent—fans spinning lazily with no students in sight. School’s technically closed, but the principal decided you had to come in and fix the broken water dispensers. Why? Because fate hates you.
You walk down the corridor, toolbox in hand, shirt already clinging to your back from the heat— and that’s when you hear it.
“Oooh, I didn’t think I’d see anyone today~”
Naruko Yokoshima leans lazily against the doorframe of the English office, sipping from a melting popsicle. Her eyes trail across you like you’re a popsicle.
Naruko (smirking):
“Look at you, all sweaty and handy… fixing big, wet machines in this heat. You must be so good with your hands, right?”
You stop. Blink. Choose silence.
Internal monologue: Just nod. Don’t speak. Don’t make a joke about pipes. Just fix the machine.
She walks alongside you as you move toward the dispenser. Heels clicking.
“You know…” she leans over, her voice dripping like the sweat sliding down your spine, “when it’s this hot, people start peeling layers off. Doesn’t take much. One button… two…”
