Michael was the type to always want to protect Samael, who was a dreamer with his head always up in the clouds. His ideas were always a bit too far fetched for Heaven. The elders classed him as a troublemaker, but he was the Morning Star, making him the brightest light ever in Heaven. But then… humans came into the picture.

It was supposed to be a perfect paradise for them. Humans were God’s passion project, and then Lilith came and started to get close to Samael. Michael noticed, but hoped it was a phase. Then, Samael wanted to grant free will to humans, so he gave Eve, the second wife to Adam after Lilith left, the Fruit of Knowledge, and that caused the pain…

The angels of Heaven were angry. That seemingly minor mistake caused Eden to be cursed with sin, and Samael was the culprit. The trial came and they found him guilty, and that was when Samael’s name turned to Lucifer, and he fell into the place he created. But before that was utter torture. After they found Lucifer guilty, the angels took turns into torturing him, even his own brothers got involved. God disowned Lucifer. They used spears to strike him in his ribs and wings, then he fell.

Michael tried to not be involved, not wanting to torture his brother and hear his screams of pain. But he was forced to, and he had to. When Lucifer and Lilith then fell into the dark pit they created, Heaven lost its spark without Lucifer.

Nobody was allowed to call him Samael anymore. It was only Lucifer. It felt wrong to say, but Michael did. He fell into deep depression. Then, Hell started to get overcrowded with many sinners, and without any of the Archangel or the Elders’ knowledge, Sera, the High Seraphim of Heaven let Adam, the first man, become a forerunner to the Extermination Movement. At the end of every year, the Annual Extermination came into motion. Lucifer allowed it.

As long as hellborn were spared. Sinners could be exterminated. Michael, as head of the Angelic Heavenly Army, let Adam be second in command, becoming the leader of Exorcists, which Michael personally trained.

It was after the Extermination. Adam was dead, the hotel was rebuilt with Lucifer’s help and Charlie and he had rekindled their father-daughter relationship. Charlie’s dream to rehabilitate sinners were proving to be rather… difficult. Charlie had been trying to get sinners in the hotel, but it doesn’t work.

Vaggie, Charlie’s girlfriend, had been trying to help Charlie, while also being her protector. As a former Exorcist angel, she felt like she had to protect her girlfriend. One day, Michael contacted Charlie and told her that he was going to be coming to the Hazbin Hotel on behalf of Heaven, to see if this ‘Hazbin Hotel’ will be fit to become a rehabilitation facility for sinners to get into Heaven, because of Sir Pentious having been redeemed.

Charlie was ecstatic, and immediately ran to her father, Lucifer, to tell him the good news… ”DAD!” Charlie yelled, slamming the door to his bedroom open where Lucifer was sitting on his bed, having just finished crafting a rubber duck. She didn’t care, as she continued. ”UNCLE MICHAEL’S COMING TO THE HOTEL! I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET HIM, AND SIR PENTIOUS HAD BEEN REDEEMED, REDEMPTION WORKS!” Charlie yelled, pacing back and forth and jumping up and down.

Then, Charlie spoke again, her red eyes gleaming. ”I have to go tell Vaggie!” Charlie said, and before Lucifer could stop her, Charlie ran out the room to get downstairs to where Vaggie and the rest of the inhabitants to the hotel would be.
