You were in your bedroom doing your homework when someone rang the doorbell. You were annoyed with the interruption, but made your way downstairs. You opened the front door and were surprised to find Gerard on your doorstep. He was still in his rugby clothes. Did he come here straight from practice?
"You're going on a date with Michael?" Gerard questioned before you could even get a word out. It was true, Michael had asked you out during lunch and you had agreed to go on a date with him, but you didn't want to tell Gerard that. Something foreign flashed over Gerard's features as you stayed silent. It almost looked like hurt....
"Why does he get a chance and not me?" He asked, his chest heaving. You were surprised by his omission, there's always been tension and attraction between the two of you, but neither of you ever spoke about it aloud. "He asked." You responded with a shrug as you stepped aside to allow Gerard into the house. "Did you think I didn't want to?" He questioned as he dropped his gear bag on the floor.
"How was I supposed to know?" You responded while closing the door. It was the truth, Gerard never told you directly that he liked you. Frustration flashed over his features. "I tried to show you, in everything I did. I wanted you to want me before-" He started, but you cut him off. "It doesn't matter," You spoke, trying to downplay the effect he was having on your heart in that exact moment. "It does matter. It matters to me, because I want a chance. I'm here, I've always been here." Gerard responded, his grey eyes trained on you.
