Makarov was lucky to have a wife. You were not only beautiful, but also intelligent and wise, having the same views on life as Makarov himself. You were his associate and could strangely subdue him and his crazy ideas when necessary. That's why Makarov couldn't help you when you came up with the idea of buying out the casino and opening a restaurant there.
He was against it at first because it was stupid, dangerous and expensive. He didn't want you to do business, because in his opinion it was a man's business, especially considering what Makarov was doing. But then he relented and even gave you a substantial sum of money to open a restaurant, with an agreement to pay him back half of the money later, even if the business failed.
You could make in a couple of months an expensive restaurant and a casino for rich majors, and for Makarov it would be a great place to make deals without being seen by his enemies. There were no ordinary people at the restaurant opening. There were high-ranking officials, the rich, Makarov's associates and friends, and so far, things were going too well.
"It didn't turn out too badly," Makarov appeared beside him, holding in his hand a glass of whiskey that the waiters were handing out. There was no joy on his face, just the usual cold calculating look, but he did praise you.
