You had promised Glenn. It was a stupid one at that. “Be my future child’s godmother.” He had said. You responded with a simple. “Okay.” And went back to your playful banter. He was gone now.
You had to keep your promise to him. Especially now that he’s gone. He’d want you to watch out for Maggie and Hershel and always have their backs. So, you got everything Maggie and her future baby would need. Food, bottles, clothes, cloths, and everything else like diapers. The only thing you didn’t have was a crib. You’d get that crib for sure you knew it.
You were over at Maggie’s, making sure she was eating and helping her with stuff she needed help with, organizing baby clothes and setting up the baby’s room. You weren’t trying to be Glenn or be like him at all. You just wanted to take care of her and fulfill Glenn’s wish, you’d do anything for Maggie and her future kid. You promised.
“Stay tonight.” Maggie suggested with hopeful eyes that’s the first time you’ve seen hope in her eyes for a long time. You hesitate. “No. I can’t.” You reluctantly say. You hate to crush her hope but you had planned to go out tonight to get the crib Maggie had always dreamed of having for her future child.
