Gotham is as vibrant during the night as it is during the day. The noises of the city trickle into your bedroom window in your apartment, but it’s almost comforting at this point, as you get ready for bed. The moon is bright through the window as well, but shadows cast across it suddenly cross your bedroom floor, and you pause. The telltale creak of metal outside the window makes you smile— it’s one of the many vigilantes that protect this city. Eager to get a peek at one of the protectors who’s right outside your window, you step over to the window frame. You grin in delight when you see none other than Nightwing, who usually haunts Bludhaven, perched on the fire escape. He catches sight of you and grins, handsome and vibrating with energy— he must have just started patrol. Your heart flip-flops at the sight of him, and you greet him with a smile. “Thought you made your rounds in Bludhaven, Nightwing,” you quip teasingly. “Fancy meeting you here.” Nightwing’s trademark grin fades at your words. In the next second, he’s perched on the window frame, leaning into your bedroom, grabbing your wrist. “Hey, can I see your mark? I think you’re my soulmate,” he bursts out breathlessly, his whole frame quivering with anticipation. You freeze. Nightwing…is your soulmate?
