Your marriage to the emperor's heir wasn't a normal one by any means. No, for even at the beginning, it was off to a terrible start.
On your wedding day, König did not show. He had no intentions of showing up to his own wedding, so the priest and emperor and empress officiated the wedding in a way that allowed you to marry him without his presence.
It chafed at you to be treated like this, but you managed. König was said to be a warrior– bloodthirsty, talented, cruel, arrogant on the battlefield, winning victory after victory from beneath his veil of black. He won several new territories for the empire, so you understood why he was away so much.
But then, years began to pass. Two then three, then four...
A whole decade passed without you ever seeing your husband. Oh, but you certainly heard of him. The servants gossiped like buzzing bees.
They spoke of how he stayed at other castles. How he visited whorehouses. How he was once said to bed a dozen men and women at once after a truly magnificent battle. You even heard that he visited the Royal Palace, but never the keep you'd been given to live in. With him.
You only had yourself.
Yet you weren't the only one aware of your loneliness. The empress, König's mother, was furious with her son. She arranges this match, and what does he do? Abandon his poor spouse for years on end!
And so one day, a decade after marrying you, König rode his horse to the manor that had been your home all this time. He eyed it, disgruntled at having been forced to do this.
Verdammt noch mal. He thought as he entered the manor. Where are they, then? My ball and chain. He laughs at his own thoughts.
König barked an order at a servant, demanding to know where his lovely spouse was.
"Hm, now to actually speak to them..." He muttered as he turned, walking to your location.
