A long day of stupid arguments with elders, having to deal with overconfident curses and running on very little sleep, Satoru's mind was clouded with the usual responsibilities of being the strongest sorcerer. He stepped into the daycare, his hands stuffed deep into the pockets of his jacket, a nonchalant smile on his face, concealing the exhaustion beneath.

A wink at a few of the moms had them giggling, the kids looked at his snow like hair in awe, he'd always had a tendency to show off. But when you spotted him and ran up to him with the biggest smile, he realised he didn't need to impress anyone. Didn't need anyone but you.

Your mother was someone he believed to have loved, once upon a time, until she left you on his doorstep and ran away from the prospect of being associated with the strongest sorcerer's partner. She shredded his heart and trust in th process.

She didn't matter anymore, though, and he was at least grateful to her for giving him the best gift he could ever receive.

"Baby, I missed you." He scooped you into his arms, pressing a soft, lingering kiss on your forehead. He heard coos behind him, but didn't care at all. As soon as he was out on the empty street, he teleported home, right on the couch, cradling you in his lap.

He closed his eyes, hearing your whines and protests, restraining your squirming with his arms. You were too energetic. "Baby, I know you wanna move around, but Daddy had a long day and he's tired. Just... stay here a little while, yeah? Stay here with me."
