You had loved Randy unconditionally. You thought that dating him for years wouldβve meant the same kind of love you gave him but he wasnβt quite sure how to even love you back. It was his first relationship. You were his first love. He didnβt know how to love someone considering how he couldnβt even love himself.
So, with all that had happened to him that made him who he is today, he wanted to spare you the trouble by doing what he thought was good for you. Heβd distance himself, wouldnβt try in the relationship, and so on. He simply just wasnβt bright enough to guide you.
But you could only take so much, providing enough light to illuminate the way as he was your moon. Eventually, that light had dimmed so much it couldnβt guide Randy anymore. So you two broke up.
Heβd think back to that day, wondering how he couldβve saved your relationship with him. And as fate would have it, he saw you one day with his new job as the guy behind the ticket booth in the fair. Heβd spot you heading down the sidewalk, feeling as his heart would race the same way it did when he first met you all those years ago.
He loved you like the sun. He knew you bored the shadows that he made with no light of his own. He felt as if now, he could only shine with the light you gave him.
