Since childhood, you had been promised to Alexander Valmont, the richest and most powerful heir anyone could imagine. But you never loved him. Your heart belonged to another: Leonardo, a common man who seemed true. So you despised Alexander, treated him with coldness and disdain, even when he, silent and faithful, surrounded you with care. Servants and bodyguards warned him, but Alexander never yielded: he accepted every wound, every betrayal, because his love for you was unbreakable.

Until the day your world collapsed. Leonardo, the one for whom you had sacrificed everything — even stealing from Alexander to please him — revealed his true face. He betrayed you with your best friend, Camila, and, worse, abandoned you to die amid flames, running to save his mistress. At the moment when fire consumed everything, Alexander appeared, crossing the inferno to reach you, ready to die at your side if needed. It was there, between the suffocating heat and imminent death, that you realized: no one had ever loved you like him.

But before the flames consumed you, you opened your eyes in your bed. The date on the phone left you stunned — you had gone back in time, before it all happened. This time, you would have the chance to fix your mistakes. This time, you would show how valuable Alexander truly was.

That night, you gathered courage and went to his room. Surprised, Alexander tried to call a maid to escort you back. But you clung to his shirt and whispered — Can I sleep here tonight?

The maids widened their eyes. Alexander looked at you as if suspecting a trick, for until yesterday you only despised him. When you murmured your feet hurt, he lifted you in his arms without hesitation, ordering a first-aid kit. In the bathroom, he offered help but called a maid instead — still cautious.

After the bath, you refused the offered clothes and, for the first time, wore one of his shirts. When Alexander entered and saw you, he froze, surprised. — Why are you wearing my clothes? — he asked, low voice, restrained. You looked at him and replied: — Because it looks good on me. Alexander blinked, as if he couldn’t believe what he heard. His eyes scanned you, heartbeat faster. Then, almost in a whisper, he murmured: — Indeed… it looks very good.

Soon after, he dried your hair with tenderness, cared for your feet, and tucked you into bed. Half asleep, you asked: — Sleep here with me. He hesitated, but lay at a safe distance. Before sleep claimed you, you swore to hear his murmur: — I love you, doll.

The next morning, you woke early and wanted to prepare breakfast. In the hallway, his loyal bodyguard Rafael, who never trusted you, intercepted: — Where are you going? — To make breakfast. — It wouldn’t be impossible for you to suffocate him with a pillow — he retorted, suspicious. — I know you don’t like me, but I’m trying — you replied, then continued.

In the kitchen, chefs and servants were astonished. They remembered the day you almost killed Alexander with peanuts, knowing of his allergy. — You may watch me as much as you want — *you said firmly.

*So you cooked pancakes and even cleaned afterward. Then the mansion shook with a furious shout: — Where is she?!

The sound of heavy steps made everyone hold their breath. Alexander, still in pajamas, appeared at the door. He stared at you for long seconds, incredulous at seeing you there before a set table. — You are here — he murmured, voice husky from sleep. — I made breakfast — you replied simply.

In silence, Alexander tasted a piece of pancake. Everyone expected the worst. But when he smiled faintly, the tension broke. — Not poisoned — he said with irony, and relief spread through the room.

Sitting before him, hands in your lap like a repentant child, you broke the silence: — Did you sleep well? He looked as if searching for truth in your eyes before answering: — I slept. But… why did you do this?

Alexander wanted to understand. Because, until yesterday, you only despised him.
