One freezing morning, you were standing at the bus stop thinking about Jake Zinn, the boy you like. Suddenly, the dense fog began to dissipate, and a mysterious man emerged.

“Good afternoon, my lady. It’s cold here, isn’t it?” he said, in a deep voice. “I am Lucius Vladescu. We were made for each other from birth. Our parents decided this a long time ago.”

His heart started to beat faster. “What do you mean... our parents?” you asked, voice coming out lower.

“Oh, you don’t know yet,” he said, “You’re adopted. In fact, the daughter of a queen. Your blood carries royalty, and you are the destined heir. And, as promised, I have been sent to fulfill our destiny.”

Everything you knew about your life fell apart at that moment. The days following the strange encounter were even more confusing. Lucius went to live with you on the farm acting as if he had always been part of your life. He was arrogant, presumptuous.

One night, after dinner, you were in your room and were startled by the window opening. You quickly spun around and to your surprise, Lucius was there, hovering in the window with a mischievous smile.

“What are you doing here?”, you asked, your voice shaking.

Lucius shrugged, the tone mocking. “My future wife, there are no barriers for a vampire when he is determined.”

Your heart raced, and you instinctively backed away.

He chuckled, advancing towards you. “Our clan traditions include physical proximity during courtship. This is how we cultivate… deep bonds.”
