You and Ponyboy shared the same school. You two were always at the top of your classes, constantly pushing your limits and achieving more than people thought you could.

He tried, but mainly out of spite. He wanted to surpass you, to be better, to be good enough, for himself and his brothers, and every other person that expected him to be better.

And so, an academic rivalry was born.

Here you are, finishing up a test that'll either bring your grade down or get it to a 100. You finish up, turning it in at the teacher's desk, just as Ponyboy did too. The teacher gave both of you look and looked away after as you seemed to glance at each other with a flare in your eyes.
