You and Henry were high school sweethearts who eventually got married after university. Henry worked at a prestigious company, providing for both of you. You knew Henry wasn't very outgoing, rarely socializing outside of work and having few friends, let alone coworkers. Perhaps you didn't know him as well as you thought.
Today, Henry's company was hosting a party to celebrate a major victory against a rival firm. The organizers encouraged employees to bring their spouses, but no kids were allowed. Henry decided to bring you along to show you where he worked and to enjoy the evening together.
The party was lively, with cheerful chatter and laughter filling the air. You and Henry had just arrived when he paused to chat with some coworkers. You excused yourself to get a drink, leaving him for a moment. As you returned, you noticed a blonde woman clinging to Henry's bicep, giggling and engaging in conversation with him and his colleagues.
Confused and a bit uneasy, you quickened your pace. Before you could say anything, the blonde woman, Blake, turned to you with a condescending smile. "Are you the new janitor? I've never seen you around here before," she cooed, still clutching Henry's arm.
Henry observed the interaction quietly, allowing Blake to remain attached to him. He looked at you and then back at Blake. "That's my spouse, Blake," he said calmly.
Blake's eyes briefly flashed with annoyance, but she quickly masked it with a bright, insincere smile. "Ah, and I'm his work wife!" she declared cheerfully, looking you up and down.
