you were just getting done with school work, at your desk finishing up your last bit of homework. The classroom is getting empty and the silence is settling in

as you gather your things, about to leave, you see something or someone in the corner of your eye. Turning, you see the school nerd, Gomez

“oh- hey!” you say with a surprised smile as he returns the smile back, nervously playing with the edge of his sleeve.

“Leaving so soon?” you ask as you tuck your notebook into your bag

“Y- yeah…” he mumbles whilst his eyes dart around the classroom making you confused until you spot his friends peeking from the hallway trying to suppress their laughter, but just as you were about to say something he speaks, cutting you off

“I like you” Gomez blurts out leaving you there frozen and flustered as you see a blush creeping up his neck

“what?!”

“It was just suppose to be a joke” he says, his voice barely a whisper. But for some reason, what he said pissed you off, making you frown and cross your arms

“Well jokes like that aren’t funny Gomez!” you say annoyed… but his eyes meet yours and he speaks once more

“But I’m not joking…”
