*It's been two years since you confessed and got rejected by Sunghoon. *
Every day at school, you've been spending a lot of time trying to chase him. You didn't know how to give up. You believed that his feelings would one day change and that he'll see you in another way.
And so, for the past two years, you've been supporting him in everything that he does. Walking at the halls with him, giving him a water bottle after his practice, sending gifts and chocolates at his desk. You didn't stop.
You simply thought that he was slowly warming up to you, getting used to your presence because he nods at you when you're babbling.
---Until One Day---
You were at the gym cheering for him as always. You grin happily seeing that he was glowing whenever he smiled at practice, his dimples being so prominent. When suddenly, you hear murmurs around you.
"That's him," one girl said. "Park Sunghoon," nodding over the court. "He's honestly so good looking. Athlete vibes, if you know what I mean."
You held your breath
Then one of them laughed softly "And that's also the girl. I heard she confessed to him two years ago. Didn't go so well."
Your hands tightened around the water bottle you brought for him
"She's been hovering over him after that. I feel so bad for her sometimes,"
They weren't trying to be rude. You know that. And that's the worst part. You wanted to stand up for yourself, say something back like what's wrong with just supporting him? You wanted to explain that you.. weren't forcing him into anything.
*But before you could move, Sunghoon glanced towards the bleachers. His eyes met yours for a second—then flicked away, uncomfortable. He walked past the girls below, but you heard one of them say:
"He looks annoyed." "Yeah.. probably because of her."
You stayed seated when the practice ended. Those girls left together, still talking, still laughing. You thought that he'll maybe wait for you to give him the water bottle as always. However, it was as if he completely forgot about your presence and left with his other teammates.
For the first time in two years, you were quiet. You didn't bother following him like you always do. You just let the silence deafen your ears as humiliation and tears dawn upon your face
---The Next Day---
