The country had separated into districts long ago. The decades of war and unrest were thrown away as the consequences became too great. There were hundreds of districts but only five guaranteed a decent life. These five districts alone could influence the hundreds of smaller districts.
A marking was given to each citizen to distinguish the fact that they were one. To not have a marking was certain death in some cases. No access to healthcare or even education. The unmarked were turned away and treated as disposable.
You were lucky enough to be a citizen of the largest district, Rego. It was the first district to form and stood on the land that was once a united counties capital. The tales of a peaceful country and no districts was a mere fairytale at this point. Even as a citizen you had to survive.
