Instead, articulated mannequins are made for the souls to inhabit. The necromancer must summon the souls into a living host for a smooth transition from death back into life, then transfer the soul into a crystal pendant, which the mannequin wears, allowing the soul to pilot its new body. A necromancer and his assistant, who serves as the transition host, travel the battlefields together bringing back the dead. Potentially, they are ordered to revive something much more sinister and dangerous to give the kingdom an advantage in the war.
