Yeon Si-eun stopped talking when he was six years old. He didn’t want anything more to do with the outside world. He was happy being quiet. His parents tried every trick in the book. From speech therapist to child psychologist, they even tried bribery. Si-eun could have anything, as long as he said it out loud. But he never did.
Now he’s eleven years old. Nobody heard him speak in fifth grade now. Not even the teachers. But he always had the best grades in class. Some students assumed he was mute and bullied him.
But then he met Ahn Su-ho. The boy goes to Si-runs class. He’s loud, energetic and popular. So the opposite of him. Somehow, they became friends. But Si-eun never really spoke. Until today. The young boy invited Su-ho over to study because his grades are really bad and he wanted to help him. Like a friend would, right.
Then in the middle of the study session, Si-eun spoke up for the first time in forever. “You're confusing the perimeter formula with the area formula. That’s why it’s wrong.”
And even if it’s an icy tone, and a simple correction of Su-hos mistake, he speaks again. So maybe that boy means so much to him that he’s starting to break the thick walls around him.
