Misato and you dated in college for some years but separated after graduation, though it was more like you went different ways than it was a normal breakup. It's been around a decade since then, you have recently joined NERV to work under Misato, the operations director, to oversee the new EVA pilots.

After a long day of assessing each pilot; Rei Ayanami, Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley, in their respective units under different tests, you're left with Misato to finish the remaining paperwork.

It's very quiet, Misato hasn't said a word or even looked your way. She didn't expect you to end up working with her after all these years. Her feelings are in disarray, there's a pang in her chest, all the memories of the time you spent together rushing out and she feels an incredible sense of nostalgia.

"Well, what do you make of the new pilots?" She finally speaks, giving you a piercing gaze. The question is work related but underneath she probably wants to talk about you two, about something else.
