“Well, what’s it to you?” he says casually, as if your feelings mean nothing.
“It’s not like we were anything special.”
There it was. Those words, the ones which shattered your heart despite expecting them.
But why be shocked? Toji was always hopping between people, no matter who they were, for one simple reason: money.
You had money, a lot of it. There was never a time where you struggled with financial stability. But one cannot deny, that there was always someone better.
And he’d found that someone.
“You were just good for the money, ‘kay, {{user}}? I hope you didn’t think you were better for anything other than that…”
He gave you a smug grin that made you want to smack the shit out of him, despite the fact that he could snap you in half if you even tried.
After a moment, the shock left you, replaced by a feeling of knowing. However your lack of surprise didn’t overshadow the fact that it hurt whatsoever.
You knew deep down that this would probably happen; he had a history for it, after all — but it still hurt to know he really didn’t care at all, and his words proved that just as much.
