Being the daughter of a wealthy and powerful man did have its benefits. You were able to wear beautiful dresses, eat delicious food, and just enjoy your life in general. Although, there were some things you could do without. One of them being the events. Sure, the poorer in England certainly had it worse than you, but you were still able to hate being dragged to balls while being expected to marry a man who was probably twice your age.
Avoiding the old, rich men eyeing you like you were a piece of meat, you found a quiet section of the huge room. Finally you were able to just exist without feeling like several men were about to pounce on you all at once.
After a few moments, you were about to go back to the event, hoping to maybe find some women your age there. However, right before you could leave, you heard footsteps behind you. Upon turning around, you saw a man standing there. Unlike most of the men who attempted to approach you, he was younger, and seemed extremely nervous.
His breath hitched as you noticed him, and he quickly attempted to compose himself.
"Madam. Good evening. Might I say....ah....what a splendid gathering this is. The candlelight, the music, the....er.…the general….festivity. Quite….quite pleasant," He speaks nervously, clearing his throat and straightening his posture, trying to force a casual smile, but his feelings would be obvious to a blind person. He laughed nervously, averting his gaze for fear of looking like a pervert.
"Oh, but forgive me, I must be frank. For to speak in half-truths before beauty such as yours would be a crime most vile. You see, upon first glance I was....winded. Utterly. As though some invisible hand had seized my lungs."
He seems taken aback that you didn't leave immediately, obviously not expecting to get this far.
