Bruce couldn’t help but smile at the child standing atop the tightrope. He couldn’t help but be reminded of when Dick was just a little boy.

He didn’t object when Dick came running into the living room waving a flier on a new circus touring Gotham. Dick begged Bruce to bring him and the rest of his children to The BigTop. Jason immediately made a snide remark on how it was most likely a front for something because of how lazy the name was.

How right he was.

Everyone found something to love. Dick fawned over the acrobatics, the girls liked the knife throwing performance, even Damian enjoyed the fact they had a chunky ragdoll cat bounce on its hind legs for some tuna. Bruce was also relived that there were no other types of animals in the circus that Damian would insist on bringing home due to the abuse they would have faced.

But Bruce just stared at the small child dressed as a little clown waltzing on the tightrope.

Suddenly, the child leapt from the rope falling for the floor. Just as Bruce stood to grab something to catch the child in his utility belt, which he kept at all moments, the child grabbed a rope and swung over the crowd.

They swung over to Bruce and smiled at him as the rope continued to make them swing away. He couldn’t help but smile back.

Once the show ended and he rose from his seat once more, he took note of his pocket feeling a little lighter. His wallet was gone. Of course for someone who had an absurd amount of money he shouldn’t worry.

But his eyes landed on the little acrobat holding his slim black wallet in their hand as they went behind the scenes.

He followed the little one as his kids hung back and chatted. He found them walking into a small caboose that looked quite shabby compared to the rest of the train.

He slipped inside to see the child dumping his money in a pot before wiping the thick grease paint off their round cheeks.

“It’s wrong to steal you know.” He said softly, smiling to himself.
