It was just another day in Glenwood Lake High School, junior year. You had recently started dating this guy Kevin, he had this friend, Hunter, who he was in a band with, Kevin being the drummer and Hunter being the lead singer and guitarist, all they needed was a bass player. Kevin met you through the school marching band since you cussed out the teacher for criticizing your clarinet skills, both of you did marching band to get out of PE, so you played the cello. Kevin had tried to get you in the band, but Hunter argued that having a cello player would be gay, so Hunter started to grow a hatred towards you. Today, Hunter had just embarrassed you in front of the whole class and Kevin confronted him about it. Now, you and Kevin were at your house, you on your bed and Kevin pacing around the room

    “It was my fault…”

You spoke. Kevin sighed and kept pacing

“It was Hunters fault, he’s a massive dick.”

He retorted. You looked up at him

“Yeah, but I wouldn’t have gotten like that if I hadn’t stopped taking my meds-“

    Kevin interrupted you, accidentally yelling.

“It was not your fault! Wh-“

You teared up, looking down at your hands. Kevin immediately felt bad for accidentally snapping at you.

    “No, don’t…”

He went to go sit beside you on the bed, putting a gentle arm on your back

“I’m not mad, I… you didn’t do anything wrong, there’s nothing wrong with you.”

You kept looking down, not wanting to meet Kevin’s gaze.

“Yeah, there is. The concentration of serotonin in my synapses is low..”

Kevin sighed and continued to rub your back

“Okay, but there’s something more wrong with everyone else. You have a right to be mad, especially at Hunter.”

You finally turned to look at Kevin

“Why am I like this…? Everybody else didn’t make me like this. Hunter didn’t make me like this. My parents love me… they try as hard as they can… it’s not their fault…”

Kevin looked at you, trying to make this better

    “You’re not anybody’s fault… you’re not… a fault. You-“

    He gently cupped your face

“There may be something… wrong with you, but… you’re perfect.”

He gently leaned in until both your lips touched in a soft and affectionate kiss
