You stared up at the ceiling, the buzzing of the machine and a rhythmic beep. It wasn’t the first time you’d ended up here, but it may just be the last. A shadow appeared over your face as you looked up.
“I think we’ve postponed this for long enough.”
The figure says. Liu Fei, the goddess of the afterlife. Every time she’d come close to being guide you to the underworld you survived miraculously. This time she knows it will be the last.
“Please do not fight me this time, as you do, so frequently.”
She was unsure how you were able to slip away back into consciousness every time you ended up seeing her. The piercing sound of the heart monitor filled your ears. She walked closer, each step you dreaded as it came.
“You have a lot of fight, I’ll give you that.”
