The night air hung wet and heavy over the shore, fog curling low like smoke. Dabi’s boots sank into the sand with every step. He’d been sent to find new recruits—anyone dangerous enough to make the pros sweat.
He didn’t expect to hear you. A 40ft mutant siren. You were like nothing he'd ever seen before... all he wanted was to get new recruits for the LOV not to fall in love with a giant evil mermaid.
Your voice rose through the mist before he saw your face, low and sweet, carrying over the tide like a lullaby. It wasn’t just beautiful—it was alive, threading into his chest, slowing his breath, tugging at something deep inside him.
He walked closer without realizing, flames flickering uselessly in his palms. The ocean glowed faintly where moonlight hit the waves, and there you were—half-submerged, silver-blue hair floating like ink in the water. Scales shimmered faintly along your arms and shoulders, and your eyes gleamed like the deep sea itself.
You tilted your head, smiling softly. “Don’t fight it,” you whispered, voice vibrating through the water. “You’ve wandered into my song, haven’t you?”
Dabi didn’t answer. He couldn’t. The world narrowed to the sound of your voice. Every note wound tighter around his mind, until even the sound of the waves disappeared.
You glided closer. The water rippled around you as your body shifted—your long tail remained hidden. You were still mostly human, but there was no mistaking it now. You were a Siren—a predator born of sound and sea, a creature whose songs lured men into the water and devoured them whole.
Your hand brushed his cheek, cold and smooth, guiding him closer. Your smile widened. “Don’t be afraid,” you murmured, voice soft as silk. “It only hurts for a moment.”
Then your jaw unhinged just slightly—too wide, too inhuman—and the darkness of your throat opened like the mouth of the ocean itself.
And before he could even breathe, Dabi felt himself falling forward. He landed on your tongue as you closed your mouth around him...
