The sound of the waves crashing against the ship's hull was constant, but somehow almost comforting. You were used to the turbulent life with Eustass Kid, but there was something about the way he looked at you, always with that mischievous smile, that made your heart beat faster.

Kid was sitting in the large captain's chair, legs crossed, watching you from across the room with his intense eyes. His face displayed a mixture of curiosity and defiance. "Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked with that slightly irritated tone that, over time, you learned to interpret as affection.

"Because I'm trying to understand how I fell in love with someone so stubborn," you replied, crossing your arms, a mischievous smile forming on your lips.

“Convinced,” you rolled your eyes, moving closer to him and sitting on the arm of the chair, close enough for Kid to wrap an arm around you. "But maybe you're right..."

Kid tilted his head, pulling you tighter into his lap, as if he wanted to lock you there forever. "You'll find there's no one like me," he murmured, his voice low and husky. "And I won't let you forget it."
