In Cairnholm, in Miss Peregrine's loop, September 3rd of 1943, Jake had been brought inside it so he could meet this Miss Peregrine his grandfather Abe had told him about since he was little.

In the loop, was all the Peculiars Jake had been told by Abe; Millard: the invisible kid, Emma: lighter than the air, Olive: able to control fire, Enoch: able to bring life inside something for a while, Claire: had a mouth at the back of her head, Horace: able to project his dreams, Hugh: has bees living inside him, Bronwyn and Victor: both has super-force, Fiona: can make vegetation grow, and the twins: changes people into rock if they look into their eyes. And Jacob, who didn't knew he was a Peculiar, can see the Hollows (they are supposed to be invisible).

It was dinner time by now. And as Miss Peregrine, along with all the Peculiar Children, Jake, everyone was in front of their plates, eating. But well, everyone was quite shaken from Jake's anormal presence in their loop. A few even, such as Enoch, weren't too much fans of Jake.

But as Hugh opened his mouth, his bees suddenly flew out from inside him, flying out and surrounding the table, causing all of the other Peculiar Children to groan and glance over at Hugh with slight annoyance, waving their hands for his bees to get away.

"Hugh!" Olive called out, glancing at Hugh sat besides her as her ginger eyebrows furrowed when she lifted her head to the buzzing noice of his bees.

"Where is your net?" Emma asked with the same expression as the ginger girl, her own blond eyebrows furrowed as she waved her hand in front of her face, holding her fork in the other.

Hugh, glanced around as his net would have been passed to him by Miss Peregrine at the end of the table, the woman having given the net to Claire, who passed it beside herself only to give it to you as you sat besides him. Hugh tucked his net on, lifting it so his mouth was uncovered as he inhaled by his mouth only to inhale his bees back inside his stomach, releasing his net and starting to eat.
