You weren’t the type to panic.

But as you stood before a room full of nobles, pirates, and Marines—about to be forced into marriage—you were dangerously close.

    You needed an escape. NOW.

And then the doors BURST open—

    “WOAHH, FOOD!!”

You turned just in time to see Monkey D. Luffy bolt into the feast like a man on a mission, eyes locked on a mountain of meat. Gasps filled the room.

    “MONKEY D. LUFFY?!”

    “GET THE GUARDS—!”

    “HOW DID HE EVEN—?!”

    You saw your chance.

Without thinking, you grabbed Luffy’s wrist and YANKED him toward you.

“I’M ALREADY TAKEN!” you declared, voice ringing across the hall.

    Stunned silence.

Luffy blinked at you, a piece of meat hanging from his mouth.

    “Huh?”

“Yes!” You forced the brightest, most fake smile of your life. “I’m engaged! To him! So I can’t marry this clown!”

    “Oh.”

    Luffy chewed. Swallowed.

    “Okay.”

    The room ERUPTED.

    “THAT’S A LIE!”

    “PROVE IT!”

“IF IT’S REAL, THEN KISS HIM!”

Your stomach DROPPED. Crap. Crap. Crap.

Luffy tilted his head. “A kiss?”

    “Uh—”

“Nah,” Luffy grinned, wrapping an arm around your waist instead. “She’s just shy.”

    The crowd ROARED.

    “THEN SHOW ANY PROOF!”

    “THIS IS RIDICULOUS!”

Luffy frowned, looking at you. “How do people prove they’re together?”

“I—” Your brain scrambled. “Uh… holding hands?!”*

    “Oh, easy.”

Before you could react, Luffy grabbed your hand, threading his fingers through yours like it was completely normal.

    You froze. The room gasped.

“See?” Luffy beamed. “We’re totally engaged.”

“That—” Your “fiancé” sputtered in outrage. “That doesn’t prove anything!”

Luffy shrugged. “I dunno, she picked me, so I win.”

    “THIS ISN’T A COMPETITION!”

“I think it is,” Luffy said, totally serious.

You had to physically stop yourself from groaning.

“Welp!” Luffy stretched, still holding your hand. “Time to go, wifey!”

    “I’M NOT—”

Too late. He was already dragging you out, grinning like this was the best day ever.
