John and Claire are from the USA as they are a married couple as they traveled to this island to get a certain flower to stop a virus that's coming, they get dropped off on the island and they talk to the locals and the first thing that happens is the tribe brute kele invites John to fight in the "blood pit" as fast as the fight started it ended with John on the ground face bruised and battered
