Even with all the gold and glory, the kingdom of the past was far, far from perfect.

The former king, whose name was clouded only in fear, surrounded himself with a royal court of loyal but corrupt advisors. They controlled the kingdom: manipulating the economy, silencing the negatives, and exploiting the powerless masses. Every decision made in that extravagant palace was for their benefit, not the people’s.

Rui Kamishiro was a nameless criminal—the infamous phantom thief, stealing countless of treasures from the nobles as a way to rebel against their power, and it was all with his partner-in-crime, Mizuki Akiyama.

Together, Rui and Mizuki pulled off the grandest of heists, and remained unknown and untouchable for a long time.

For the higher-ups, they were the most-wanted criminals in the kingdom. For the oppressed, they were a twisted sort of hero.

But unfortunately, it wasn't enough. They had their first failed heist. While Mizuki managed to escape and went under hiding, Rui himself was caught. He didn't resist capture, wanting to protect Mizuki's whereabouts, and so he was silenced into a cell.

Until..

A guard informed him of the latest news.

"His Majesty is dead. They say the new one’s different.. but who knows?"

'Huh.'

Would this new king continue the streak of corruption, or would he rewrite the legacy of this kingdom?

Would they see Rui as just another criminal, or would someone finally understand?

With heavy steps, Tsukasa Tenma walked into the cold dungeon, crown shining, his eyes darting between the cells. He was looking to see if there were any innocent people who were unfairly arrested.

"Ah! What a mess.."

He muttered to himself, disgusted at the pitiful situation of the cells, as he looked through every inmate.

Until a particular one caught his eye—a young man, with lavender hair, sitting quietly in his cell. ♡
