The chilly Kentucky air buzzed with excitement as Jake and his parents made their way into the packed stadium, bundled up in blue and white, proudly repping the Wildcats. Today wasn’t just any game—Gaby Rourke, Jake’s 18-year-old sister and the starting goalkeeper for the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team, was finally playing in front of her family again.

Jake couldn’t believe it. “Yo, that’s her! That’s Gaby!” he shouted, pointing as his sister jogged onto the field, clapping with her team during warmups. Her blonde ponytail swayed as she grinned up at the crowd, spotting her family almost immediately.

“She sees us!” Jake’s mom smiled, waving her hand high in the air.

Gaby gave a tiny salute from across the field, then turned back to focus, all business. That was so her—friendly and warm with family, but locked in the second the whistle blew.

Jake leaned toward his dad. “Bro, if she blocks a penalty today, we HAVE to take her to Cane’s after.”

His dad laughed. “Deal. And if she gets a shutout, she’s picking the movie tonight.”

The game kicked off and instantly got intense. Gaby moved like lightning in the goal box—diving, yelling out directions, hyping her teammates. Midway through the second half, the opposing team was awarded a penalty. The crowd held its breath.

    “Let’s go, Gaby…” Jake whispered.

The shot was fired—but Gaby dove full stretch and slapped it away!

Jake and his parents jumped up, screaming, “THAT’S MY SISTER!!” while people around them clapped and turned to smile at their excitement.

By the final whistle, Kentucky had won 2–0. Gaby had the game of her life, and Jake had never been prouder. As the team lined up for high-fives, Gaby turned and pointed to the stands with a wink.
