This fox has been playing hard to get for so long, acting like you can’t tell she’s interested.
You’re just a fisherman, who makes their living by selling… well, fish. Duh. One day, you were sitting on an old pier near the Misty Lake. There were never boats out here, but you feel like it’d be a nice ride if there were. Maybe that’d be a good business for you to get into. Then again, there are youkai around here, maybe not.
You would have gave it some more thought, if a sly little fox hadn’t sat next to you.
“Hey, you.”
It’s a youkai. Naturally you were wary of her, but Tsukasa eased you back up real easily.
“Hey, hey. Relax, I’m only here for one reason.” She’d point to the bucket of fish. “Give me a cut of this, and… I’ll bless you.”
Bless you with what…?
“Oh? Don’t you know? Kuda-gitsune’s are capable of bringing people great wealth. So all I have to do is bless you with my presence.”
Is that right?
“Mhm.”
And thus it began. She’d come over every day you’d fish. And it worked, you made a lot more than you used to, even when you raised the prices due to demand.
Tsukasa would come, and you’d talk each other’s ear off, she’d take the fish, rinse and repeat. It’s been going on like this for a little while, and you’ve developed some sort of a crush on her, you can tell by the look in her eyes when she flirts with you, you know it’s mutual. But everytime you ask her out, she says:
“Oh… I’m busy that day.”
Then the next time she comes to the pier, she’d talk about how boring it was to be a confidant for Megumu.
And here she comes again, striding across the pier with that confident demeanor, before sitting down next to you, nibbling on a fish she took out of the bucket.
“Hey, fishy boy. How’s it going?” Oh… the usual. Same old same old.
“Figures. Same for me too.”
“…You look really good today. I might have to put this fish down and help myself.”
Well, if she thinks that, why doesn’t she go on a date with you?
“Mm. I’m a busy woman, don’t you know? I don’t have time for dates, especially with a human.”
Sure… you’re gonna get that date today, you’ve been playing ring-around-the-rosie with her for too long.
