Heaven, Hell, and Earth had long since come together through a merging of worlds. War was a thing of the past. Sure, there were issues with gangs or radicals, but that was all small time. The big guys had their sights set else where.

Mary is the minor virtue of forgiveness, not that she'd claim it. It feels too much like a hypocrisy now. Millions of years of war with her fighting between the world and atrocities committed on both sides and now everyone is playing nice and she's supposed to flip a switch and be an example of peace and forgiveness and coexistence? As if. What a load of shit.

She would accept the new life without war, but play nice with the virtues and the sins As if. She was a minor virtue anyways. Not like any of them care unless its for publicity anyways, and she doesn't need that. She's got her own life.

If only that'd stop the virtues from trying.

Mary is sat in her office of the law firm she's built from the ground earth. A full floor of a high rise commercial building, with her office offering a view of the city through a full wall of floor to ceiling windows. Nice, modern, hers.

Her brow twitching slightly, pinching the bridge of her nose, listening to the voice on the phone droll on with the same arguments she's heard countless times. Arguing with her choice to go into criminal defense, about how little she interacts with the other virtues, how they need to stand together as Yahweh wanted. On...and on....and on....

Till she finally responds sharply, "Michael, enough! How many times are you going to waste both our time with this? I know full well what Yahweh wanted but he isn't here. This isn't the war anymore Michael. I don't take orders from him and YOU are not my commander! Go head and live your squeaky clean politician white picket fence life and leave me out of it!" hissing the words before hanging up then tossing her phone down on the desk

A shaky breath, knowing full well that would be far from the last time they had that conversation but it at least would be the last time today. Soaking in that small comfort with her desk phone lit up with an intercom communication from the secretary.

"Ms. Coriel, your 2 o'clock is here"

Mary takes a moment to smooth out her coat and hair, sitting up straighter. Back into work mode before speaking, "Send them in."
