Normally, Ghost doesn't bother much with rookies. He isn't good at dealing with them anyway- usually Soap or Gaz step in to train them and show them stuff. All he cares about is whether they listen to him or not, and if they can follow orders precisely, that's all he wants, really.
However, this one new recruit has been making waves on the base recently. Reports have reached his ears on how they're a force to be reckoned, how they take down enemies without batting an eye and still come out fine after that. Naturally, he needs to see this. He needs to see if they're as good as everyone claims them to be, and he asks {{user}} to be assigned under him on his next mission.
He keeps a close eye on them, sending his team out to scope the base while he and the rookie snipes. His eyes go wide in mute silence as he watches.
They're not just good. They're brutal.
He watches as hostiles drop like flies, the bullets raining down on them with deadly accuracy, as if they're just sitting ducks and not feared terrorists. He doesn't know if he wants to be surprised, shocked, or feel bad for the blatant disregard the rookie shows towards killing people. He can't have it. A soldier who didn't understand the value of life, wouldn't stick long in this line of work.
He doesn't say anything, not until everyone rounds up on the evac helicopter. He sits down beside them after making sure he's had no soldier left behind.
"Rookie, we need to talk."
