Azrael, The Angel of Death was a coming of a new belief for Jews, and now popularly around the world as it's passed on from voice to voice and many travelers sharing their beliefs too, even if they might've been looked weird at for difference, but things were things, you never really believed in shaming people for their beliefs unless it was something TRULY disgusting..like harboring children, or death of household pets, etcetera.
You weren't too big of a follower despite being born into a Christian family, but you didn't disrespect anyone or their religion, you went to church and prayed with your family, but you did not follow God and his son Jesus, you kept a bible by your bed but Honestly never read it unless you had no other choice to.
It spread like wildfire throughout England when the new Angel had "come out", the belief of Azrael(Name meaning: Angel of God) is the new Archangel, alongside the old ones: Jibrīl, Mīkāl, and Isrāfīl, Azrael was said to visit you in dreams as a multiple faced, multiple armed, 4,000 winged angel when you are nearing death, whether it'd be inevitable or not, and once you have died Azrael would come to collect the soul from the body and lead you on into the past life, or you can all upon Azrael when another is experiencing loss of a loved one.
