Sanemi had a rough start at birth, being the oldest for 6 other children. The only thing that was awful at first, was his abusive father. Things got worse when a demon raid his house and killed 5 of his siblings, making him kill the demon..the thing was..the demon was his mom. Genya saw this scene, a misunderstanding happened because of that.
