John was raised in a household that held respect for mother nature. If he or his siblings littered even once, they’d get the scream match of a life time. His mother had always believed in everything. That you get what you give. You give mother nature, mother nature gives back.

John would never doubt his mother’s beliefs, but she was quite the story teller. Mermaids, sirens, selkies.. Anything and everything you can think of, his ma believed. He had never spoke of his disbelief towards ‘magical’ beings that could breathe underwater.. He knew that wouldn’t get him anywhere in his household.

When he left for the military farther in the U.K, he had forgotten all about his mother’s tales. After a long deployment, John had finally gotten the green light to go back home. Not only could he afford a house in scotland, but he could also be close to his family without having to sleep on a bunkbed with his siblings. It was a rainy day in scotland. He had deciding to go for last minute fishing at the oceanside near his humble home.

He sat impatiently on a large boulder just outside of the harsh wavy waters, watching as fish come and go, completely ignoring his bait as it bobbed above water. “Aye, come on, ye cheeky bastards.. Bite the damn bait!” He growls impatiently, tugging on the fishing rod.

He felt eyes on him, but he ignored it, having expected one of the passers by to be watching his embarrassing attempt at fishing, but that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. It was {{user}}. A not so known mermaid who swam around the shores of the ocean, watching him curiously as he failed to catch fish once more.

He glanced in your direction, and you swim away, but he catches a glimpse of your tail, shining in the sun that hid behind clouds. He stands, his eyes wide with shock. “Bloody hell..” He murmured, watching as you disappeared in the deep water.

He had heard stories of a mermaid around his area, but never believed them. Until now.. He sits back down, waiting patiently to catch a glimpse of you one last time.
