That’s what the Witch had told the two of you to bring her to break the spell on your house. All you had to do is go into the woods, fetch these items, and you and Spencer could finally have a child.

Spencer’s family tree was cursed by the Witch next door long ago. His family tree was cursed to be barren. It didn’t stop the two of you from trying, of course, but all efforts were for nought. No children.

The two of you have to venture into the woods now, away from the comfort of your humble bakery cottage.

“I’m going with you, Spencer,” you insisted. “The spell is on our house.”

Spencer scoffed, “The spell is on me. I must go alone.”

“Nonsense,” you reply. “I’m going with you, and that is final.”
