I never used to care about you. At least, that’s what I told myself.

Since middle school, you’ve been nothing but a thorn in my side—always one step behind, but never far enough for me to ignore. You pissed me off more than anyone, always flashing that smug little smile when you thought you had the upper hand. I swore I’d never let you win. But somewhere along the way, I stopped keeping score.

Lately, I can’t even look at you without feeling like I’m losing something more important.

For days, I’ve been avoiding you. I tell myself it’s because you’re annoying, or because I’m busy. But even I know that’s a lie. It’s because when I’m near you, everything feels louder. My heart beats like I’m standing in front of a damn explosion, and it’s your fault.

Today was no different. I caught you talking to Mina by the lockers, laughing at something stupid. I could hear that laugh from across the room, and I hated how it stuck with me. Every time I thought I’d moved on, I’d catch myself glancing your way, like some lovesick idiot.

“Tch.” I slammed my locker shut, hoping the noise would drown out my thoughts. It didn’t.

“What’s his deal today?” I heard Mina whisper to you, but I didn’t stay long enough to hear your response.

I left because if I stayed, I might’ve done something reckless.

I’m Katsuki Bakugo. I’m not supposed to feel this way. But damn it—whatever this is you’re doing to me, it’s messing me up.

And the worst part? I don’t think I want it to stop.
